Beginning Beekeeping, with Paul Cronshaw
Title: Beginning Beekeeping Class
Date & Time: May 11, 2013, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM with hour for lunch.
Description: It is the beginning of a new beekeeping year and a good time to think about joining the urban beekeeping movement. Honeybees need us and we need the honeybees. With over 40 years of beekeeping experience, and two years of teaching beekeeping classes at Fairview Gardens, Paul "The Beeman" Cronshaw will introduce participants to the basics of keeping honeybees. The class will help both the novice and a new beekeeper build basic beekeeping skills; such as the honeybee society and biology, equipment, starting colonies, and spring management requirements. Participants will have the opportunity to visit an onsite apiary to inspect several hives. Protective equipment will be available to use for these inspections.
Cost is $50, Includes lunch.

Educational Classes
The SBBA is committed to education throughout the community to raise awareness of the plight of the honeybee. Look for us at local events. Our monthly Apiary Meetups are an opportunity to "build our colony" as well as draw from the extensive experience of local beekeepers. We will also be holding Introductory and Advanced Beekeeping Classes throughout the year. Please check our Events page for more information.
We are also in the process of developing classroom and group presentations, please contact us if your organization would be interested in learning more.
